The Rotary Club of Penticton-Okanagan was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Penticton.   In 1989,  women were officially granted the right to join Rotary and the newest club in Penticton was chartered to welcome women in the community to Rotary International.

President John McPherson of the Penticton Rotary Club was in attendance on January 10th, 1990 when the club was chartered and 30 members were inducted into the morning club.   The first president of the Penticton-Okanagan Rotary Club was Elwood Major.    In 2017, the club changed it's name to The Rotary Club of Penticton Sunrise to reflect the morning meeting time.

The club has been involved in Rotary Youth Exchange continuously since 1991 and numerous local and international projects.  The club recently marked it's 30th anniversary!
